Originally established in Northland in 2008, Collective Concepts is now Christchurch based working with clients on their events and weddings all over New Zealand.

Collective Concepts specialises in the areas of event & wedding planning; experiential marketing and public relations advice and services for events, tourism and hospitality businesses; and event sponsorship management for New Zealand and offshore clients.

Our personal and professional approach has been recognised as being responsible for providing an unforgettable experience. We pride ourselves on being able to relate to our clients and deliver solutions that fit their specific requirements – no two events, weddings or experiences are the same.

Kate Blundell – Collective ConceptsAs Founder and Director of Collective Concepts, I have extensive experience working with corporate and private clients in event management, wedding planning, marketing and sponsorship management in New Zealand and offshore.

After graduating from Christchurch Polytechnic (CPIT) I began my career in hotels for international hotel group Millennium Hotels and Resorts as a food and beverage supervisor quickly working my way up the ranks holding positions such as Restaurant Manager, Conference Sales Manager, Hotel Sales Manager and Food & Beverage Manager. In 2003 I moved to Northland and fell in love with the beautiful region I was proud to call home for many years.

During my time in Northland my focus moved from food and beverage management and hotel sales to creating unforgettable bespoke events using a winning combination of the stunning location, locally inspired food & beverage, exceptional service and world class experiences – a simple philosophy I now follow no matter the event, location or the client.

Having gained further experience in Australia as the Meeting & Events Director for Crowne Plaza Hotel, Sydney I returned to Northland and established Collective Concepts in 2008 with the aim to provide specialist planning and marketing services to the events, tourism and wedding sectors throughout New Zealand.

In 2010, alongside Collective Concepts, I began working as a tutor on the Hospitality Management program at NorthTec. The opportunity to work with upcoming tourism and hospitality professionals in the classroom, restaurant, at events, and in the regional & national competition arena reignited my passion for personal learning and development resulting in the completion of a Graduate Diploma in International Hotel Management in 2013 through AUT.

In 2013 I returned home to Christchurch with my husband Jason, after 10 years away, to continue my work at Collective Concepts and take up the role as a part time hospitality management tutor at Ara Institute of Canterbury (formerly CPIT).

In August 2014 Jason & I welcomed our lovely daughter Jessica into our family. When she is not at preschool, Jessica may be found at events as part of the set up team – we will have her setting up and styling venues before we know it!

As a passionate hospitality professional I have a desire to use my wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure every client I work with is delivered a truly memorable service that exceeds their expectations every time.

Holly Summerfield – Marketing & Events Co-ordinator, Collective Concepts

Originally from Canada, I have spent the last 8 years in Christchurch with my kiwi husband Brendan and in 2012 we welcomed the arrival of our beautiful son.

I graduated in 2007 with a diploma in Design and Marketing from St Laurence College in Ontario, Canada. After graduation, I worked in the promotions department at a local radio station organising and running events including a radio-thon fundraiser for the local children’s hospital.

In 2009 I moved to Christchurch and joined Meridian Energy, initially in their corporate contracts team and then I landed my dream role organising large corporate events for Meridian in the Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland regions.

Beyond corporate events, I have also planned mine and my husband’s wedding in beautiful Hawaii, baby showers, bridal showers and many a children’s party or celebration.

I am a natural organiser with exceptional attention to detail. My passion for events and organisation has led me down this path to working with Kate at Collective Concepts and I couldn’t be more excited to help our clients realise their dream in any event.

The things I love most in life are family (near and far), travel and a good cup of coffee!
