To kick things off lets talk marquee weddings...yes we’re looking at you too Tipi lovers and stretch tent fans. We all know that Kiwi’s love a location wedding or event – in a special place, with a stunning vista or a ‘money can’t buy’ experience.

Before you get too far into the planning, we thought it would be timely to share a few of the considerations that we often see fall through the cracks in the early planning phase, are an after thought or turn the lead up to the occasion into a series of sleepless nights.
THE LOCATION
Are you pitching on private or public land, on grass or a hard surface? Do you need permission or a courtesy call with neighbours? What are the noise restrictions? What are the council rules? Will you need a building consent or exemption?
THE SITE
What is the access for install, other suppliers and guests (in buses or cars)? Can you access the underground services plan? What direction does the prevailing wind come from? Where will the sun be in relation to your wedding or event timing? Is there access to power and running / drinking water?
THE SIZE & STYLE
What style marquee are you after – white, clear, gabled walls, black or steel framing? What size marquee you do need to fit in all the wedding or event elements (furniture, bar, entertainment, dance floor, etc)? Do you want flooring? Do you need/want UV protection or shade?
ADD ONS
Do you need lighting, cooling, heating, toilet facilities (onsite or how many do you need to bring in?), Audio Visual requirements, way finding signage, lighting to car parking and/or toilets?
SUPPLIER ACCESS
When and how will suppliers access your site? What health and safety planning is required and who is responsible for overseeing this? Do you have sufficient space for catering, a catering tent, mobile kitchen or vehicles, is there somewhere to wash up?
THE RUN SHEET
Do you have a run sheet that allows all your suppliers to work cohesively to create an amazing experience for you i.e. site cleared, marquee up, AV install, furniture install, set up / styling, catering etc., and then in reverse for pack down? What are your back up plans for adverse weather or wind, generator breakdown, etc?
